About the Esraj
A bowed string instrument from Bengal. Over 300 years of tradition. A hybrid between the sarangi and the sitar. Used in Rabindra Sangeet. The frets allow precise pitch like a sitar. Ravindra Jain was a famous esraj player. The tone is sweeter and less metallic than the sarangi.
