About the Mellotron
A tape-based sampling keyboard. Each key plays a magnetic tape loop of a real instrument sound. The Beatles used it on Strawberry Fields Forever. Led Zeppelin used it on Kashmir. Over 8 seconds of tape per note. The nostalgic imperfection is its charm. The ancestor of modern samplers.
