About the Drums
The oldest musical instrument after the human voice. Found in every culture on Earth. The modern drum kit was assembled in New Orleans around 1909. Snare, bass, hi-hat, toms, and cymbals form the standard kit. Gene Krupa and Buddy Rich defined modern drumming. Electronic drums emerged in the 1980s.
