About the Xylophone
Similar to marimba but with higher pitch and shorter resonators. The name means wood sound in Greek. Used in orchestral and pop music. The modern xylophone has 3.5 to 4 octaves. African balafon is the ancestor. Different hardness mallets create different tones.
