About the Agung
A set of large gongs from the Philippines. Used in kulintang ensembles. The bossed gongs are played with padded sticks. Over 1,000 years of Mindanao tradition. Two gongs of different sizes create rhythmic patterns. The deep resonance is the heartbeat of the ensemble.
