About the Clarinet
Invented by Johann Christoph Denner around 1700. Single reed instrument with the widest pitch range of any woodwind. Benny Goodman made it a jazz instrument. The bass clarinet extends the range downward. Mozart wrote the first major clarinet concerto in 1791. Over 2,000 individual parts.
