About the Djembe

The goblet-shaped drum from West Africa. Played with bare hands, never sticks. Three basic sounds: bass, tone, and slap. The goat skin head is attached with rope tuning. Can reach 105 decibels, one of the loudest acoustic instruments. Used in healing ceremonies and celebrations.
