About the Kulintang

A row of eight small gongs laid horizontally. The gongs are tuned to a pentatonic scale. Over 1,000 years of Filipino musical tradition. The player stands between two rows of gongs. The tradition predates Islamic and European influence. Each gong produces a distinct pitch.
